The OWEN Project

A young girl on the day of Tabaski.  This is the Muslim version of Christmas where everyone gets new clothes, the family slaughters a goat/sheep and everyone eats well, enjoys being together.  This is a screen shot from a video that Makale sent me of his family, she was dancing and smiling to music.  The fishermen are all happy to be able to earn money to make these purchases.  

We purchased a new motorcycle - for transportation from Yoff to Il N'Gor, to buy supplies and to make money as a moto-taxi.  If we have no transportation, then we pay for a taxi all the time, and it's expensive.  I saw this when I was there in February.  One trip from Yoff to Île N'Gor is about 1000 cfa, or ~$1.75.  it adds up.  The last one died after 3 or so years...this is life in Africa.  Terrible fuel quality, sand everywhere.  Cost?  About $1500.
